D.N.A. - Cesta stínů (2007-02-04) taken over Metalzone.info

Heavy metal, 2006, Self release, Total time: 58:19

So without useless hesitation CD in the player and let's go....

CD is opened by orchestral song Pensiero La Bohema. Sympathetic prelude, very nicely done.

And then it starts, second song is D.N.A. Here the band shows in the full beauty. As for style it reminds me of Arakain, or simply the bands, which play for a long time and use well-tried techniques and don't want to tamper with some useless “modern” experiments. Very sympathetic, pleasant music. Only in some place I can't get rid of the feeling, that the music doesn't rhythmically fully fit.

This feeling vanishes quickly with the third song Vesmírná jízda and I enjoy the pleasant feeling of “wooden” metal in the best sense of the word. Here I'd point out the vocal – quality, the voices nicely complement to each other.

Zvláštní znamení. Beginning like from Törr :) Unrestrained and varied song.

And here comes Svědomí. After a little weird beginning, which didn't get me very much, the rougher part comes. After some time it takes turns with interlude. Lengthy thing, it has more than six minutes. But the refrain is very nice, so is the guitar solo.

Prokletí – nice slow kind of ballad. It just took time to me to get used to the female vocal in the refrain.

Bass twangs and Projdi peklem svým begins. The beginning is kind of flabby a too long. It is again a megalong thing – more than seven minutes. But except for the length it is a successful song. Middle tempo, melodic... The chorus parts are nice.

Přízrak moří follows. Great thing! But I won't forbear a dig – some parts are like they'd fall out right from the CD Zemětřesení from misters Doležal, Henych and Brichty :)

Well and here it goes faster! Mazej dál is much more agile than the previous songs. And it's definitely a pleasant change!

Cesta stínů is a ballad from the beginning, somewhere in the middle it goes in the middle tempo. Here I'd point out the nice guitar solos and excellent keyboards.

„G“, well this thing disgusted me. The beginning like some country song from Jakub Smolík and the rest absolutely mindless. Merry ballad about the ginger water. I like beer too, but this doesn't impress me. Useless song at this album.

Piano twangs and the last thing of the whole album comes – Macchine Da Guerra. It's such a ballad, then in the end the keyboards go to the background and the music goes a little harder. The whole song is in Italian. Pleasant song, but again – I think that the female vocal only disturbs.

So for the conclusion: This CD is full of quality melodic music, which is pleasant to listen to and won't offend anyone. Also the sound is well balanced and quality. All instruments are well audible. The sound quality underscores the quality performance of musicians.

Well but I won't only praise, I've got one rebuke. Most songs, and so also the whole CD, are are awfully long. You know it, even the best song gets boring, when it's seven minutes long and the same all the time. So if I can give one advice – shorten it.

But overall it's well balanced and quality CD, which I can heartily recommend to anyone...

Actually also the booklet is worth mentioning. It's perfectly done, nice picture, well made inner pages with lyrics and photos of band members. The only thing I still don't understand (more bands do it) is the list of instruments and equipment. What is it good for?
